Honours Students

The Honours Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is designed for students who are interested in pursuing graduate school and/or who are interested in gaining an additional in-depth perspective of their major.

The Honours BBA provides students a choice of two streams. The first is a scholarly stream and intended for students interested in pursuing graduate school. The second is an applied stream and intended for students seeking to enhance career skills - with a focus on applying theory to practice.

Students may complete the Honours stream in all of the BBA majors. Depending on the curriculum year a student is following, 36 of the courses in the Honours BBA are identical to those in the four BBA majors.

The students in the Honours BBA must take the following two (2) courses, and can be used towards their four (4) BBA electives:

- MGMT 5110 - Research Methods for Business
- MGMT 5120 - Honours Research Project

Students will apply to the Honours BBA in the Fall semester following their completion of 60 credits (normally the Fall semester of their third year). Coursework will begin in the Winter of their third year with MGMT 5110 (Research Methods for Business) and continue into their fourth year with MGMT 5120 (Honours Research Project).

You should register for a full compliment of Winter courses, as if you were not in the BBA Honours program. The time for MGMT 5110 will be listed on mymru.ca, so be sure to schedule your courses around that time, so that if you are accepted into the program, you will not have to make any radical changes to your courses when you go to add MGMT 5110 (and drop another course).

Students should consult the BBA Honours Handbook for Students for the answers to more detailed questions, including those about faculty supervisors, the rigour of the applied research, assessment differences of the two streams, Human Research Ethics Board (HREB) clearance, and the expected outcomes and expectations of each required course. Students may also contact the Business Advisors for any questions that they may have about completing the BBA Honours.
